Use authentication methods in workflows
Authentication methods are reused in workflows through node configuration: the node applies the access at execution time, without the secret ever appearing in the workflow.
Before you start
- Have created an authentication method.
- For the general variable mechanism (environment-based resolution), see Variable management.
Select a method in a node
- Open the node configuration.
- Fill in the Auth or Authentication methods section.
- Select the method in the dropdown list.
The field can also directly contain an authentication method or a dictionary variable.
Nodes that support authentication
| Node | Supported methods |
|---|---|
| HTTP(S) Request | Basic Auth, Bearer, API Key |
| FTP nodes | FTP/SFTP (credentials or private key) |
| Google Pub/Sub Send | GCP authentication method |
| AWS SQS Send | AWS access key and secret access key |
| AI Agent | Provides the model token via an authentication method |
| Code | All — methods declared in the Auth tab, used in the script via libs.ecosystemCredentials |
Simple API key
For a simple key to send in a header or query parameter, a dictionary variable is enough — see Dictionaries.
