Use the workflow editor
The workflow editor is the graphical interface in which you build your workflow: you add nodes, configure them, connect them, then test the result (saving is automatic).
Editor interface
The editor is made of several zones:
- Canvas: central zone where you place and connect the nodes
- Side panels: node addition panel (catalog) and configuration panel of the selected node
- Toolbar: zoom, centering, test execution
Navigating the canvas
- Move the view: click and drag on the canvas
- Zoom: mouse wheel or zoom buttons
- Select: click a node
- Multiple selection: hold Shift and click several nodes
Add nodes
- Click the button (Add a node) in the side panel.
- Select the node type in the catalog.
- The node appears on the canvas.
The node catalog and their configuration fields are described in Node types.
Custom nodes
Custom nodes are Resources specific to your organization, exposed in the editor catalog (the "Custom" tab of the node picker).
Configure a node
- Click a node to select it.
- The configuration panel opens on the right.
- Fill in the form fields.
Common fields
All nodes share common fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Identifies the node in the editor and in the trace logs — useful as soon as the workflow exceeds 5-6 nodes. |
| App | Application associated with the node (on the nodes that expose it). |
| Stop the workflow execution on failure | Stops the workflow if this node fails (default true) — to continue despite the failure, uncheck and handle the error with an On Error node. |
| Business metadata | Free annotation attached to the node (reference, integration context, such as an email, an identifier, an iteration value) — with no effect on execution, visible in the traces according to the tracing mode: on traced nodes in Standard and Full modes, and on nodes in error in Performance mode. |
Specific fields
Each node type has its own fields. See the corresponding node page in Node types.
Connect nodes
To link two nodes, hover the source node, drag from its output connection point (handle) to the input connection point of the destination node, then release.
To delete a connection, select it then press Suppr / Delete, or use the context menu.
The On Error node is a starting point, like the Trigger node: it has no input handle and cannot be connected to directly. It triggers automatically when an error occurs in the workflow — see On Error node.
Move and organize
Click a node and drag it to the desired location. To move several nodes, select them (Shift + click) then drag the whole set. A grid alignment is applied automatically.
Search in the workflow
Ctrl/Cmd + F opens the search in the canvas: enter the name of a node or a value it contains (data, variable, configuration element).
- The matching nodes are highlighted and the view moves to the first occurrence.
- Enter goes to the next occurrence.
- Esc closes the search.
Useful to quickly find a node in a complex workflow.
Delete elements
Deleting a node deletes all its connections and the associated configuration.
- Select the node (or several with Shift + click).
- Press Suppr / Delete, or use the context menu.
Use variables
Click Show variables to display the variables available in the workflow and use them in the nodes.
In each node, you can use context variables:
- Input data:
{{data}},incomingRequest.*depending on the trigger — see Trigger node - Results of previous nodes:
{{nodeName.result}} - Global variables:
{{variableName}}
The Handlebars syntax ({{variable}}, {{object.property}}, {{#if}}, {{#each}}) is detailed in Variables.
Test in the editor
Two levels of testing are possible:
- Test a node: select a node and click Test the node to check its configuration alone — see Test a workflow.
- Full test: click Run in the toolbar to run the whole workflow with test data. Start by testing on a development environment.
Errors are displayed directly on the nodes concerned and the data at each step is visible in the test panel.
Save
The changes are saved automatically in draft mode: there is no save button at each edit, and leaving the editor does not lose your changes.
Create a version
- Click Fork in the editor.
- Fill in the SemVer number and the changelog.
- Validate with Save.
Version management (Main vs numbered versions, immutability in production) is detailed in Version management.
AI assistant
An AI assistant is available in the configuration panel of a node:
- Select a node.
- Open the AI assistant at the top of the configuration panel.
- Describe in natural language what the node should do.
- Preview the suggestion, then apply it if it suits.
